Nigerian singer, Davido has lost his three-year-old son in a drowning tragedy at their Banana Island home in Lagos.

Ifeanyi Adeleke’s death last Monday night comes few days after the celebration of his third birthday on October 20.

The deceased was said to have been under the water for a long time before he was discovered and rushed to a hospital in the Lekki area of Lagos State, where he was confirmed dead.

Close sources have divulged that,  people who were present when the sad incident happened at Davido’s home have been arrested for investigations by the Nigerian police.

The couple had traveled for a family gathering to Ibadan yesterday and had left Ifeanyi Adeleke with his minders who can’t explain how he entered the pool without being noticed and drowned.

Social media users, fans and loved ones have sent their condolences to the Nigerian singer.

However, there were still conflicting reports on social media but by morning on Tuesday, most of the popular Nigerian bloggers like Linda Ikeji, Instablog as well as credible websites such as Vanguard had reported about the death.

 Following the death of Davido’s son, Ifeanyi, Nigerian website, Daily Post reported on Tuesday that the Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that all members of the singer’s domestic staff are currently in police custody.

The command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed this to Daily Post om Tuesday morning after reports of Ifeanyi’s death went viral.

Speaking with Daily Post on the unfortunate incident, the Lagos PPRO said preliminary investigation is currently ongoing to unravel what led to the boy’s death.

He said, “Domestic staff at Davido’a home have been taken to the station to give their own account of what happened. I wouldn’t call that arrest yet.

“If after they all give their own account of what happened and after preliminary investigations, if anyone of them is found culpable, the person will now be placed under arrest”.

Ifeanyi’s death comes four years after Davido consoled fellow Nigerian singer, D’banj when his son also drowned in a pool in their home.

Davido, in June 2018 offered his condolences to D’banj while receiving his BET Award for Best International Act.
